About the Artist:
Barbara Anne Fillion, pens contemplative lyrics filled with biblical truth. Her melodies are rich and soulful and her rhythms are earthy and energetic. Americana Bluegrass, Country-Southern Gospel with a trace of Celtic influence describes her latest CD, High On That Mountain, released on her independent record label, Dove Star Records. The title cut, High On That Mountain, and other selections off the CD are receiving radio play in the U.S., Canada and in Europe.
In addition to her music ministry, Barbara is an independent artist advocate for Compassion International. This not-for-profit ministry is dedicated to the long-term development of children in poverty. Regarding Compassion International, she says, It saddens me to see so many suffering children; I felt compelled to get on board with the other artists and use my gift of music to support this worthy cause.
Like many Christian artists, Barbara began singing in her hometown church. One of her first compositions was putting the Lord's Prayer to music. Today she owns the copyrights to over 400 songs. Being prompted by a close friend to do something with her songs, she was introduced to a local musician/producer. This led to the making of her first album, Highway Home, released in 1988. As a result of her first album release, Barbara made a guest appearance and shared her testimony on Trinity Broadcasting Network live in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
High On That Mountain is an eclectic blend of Gospel music from uptempo spirited songs to moving ballads. Some of Nashville's finest musicians set their talents to this album, having played such venues as the Grand Ole' Opry, Dollywood, The Smoky Mountain Jubilee and have performed with Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tom T. Hall, Merle Haggard, Kingdom Heirs, The Perry's and more.
The CD features Barbara Anne?s compassionate vocals and a heart of acousticism. There's something for everyone, from original songs to her renditions of well-known Christian favorites.
Barbara Anne currently sings and shares testimony at concerts, coffeehouses, festivals, conferences & church services. Depending upon the venue, she is often accompanied by fellow musicians, forming the group, Barbara Anne & The River Band.
