About me

So... why Radio Johnson? why now?

Well, first you need to know a little bit 'bout the history of Radio Johnson. It goes all the way back to the early days of the internet when dialin' aol and waiting 6 hours fer that napster download only way to find good music on the internet. It was back when the good chef was still serving up episodes on his popular public access TV show "Cooking with Chef Johnson". When the Chef launched his own website to satisfy his growing base of fans (http://www.chefjohnson.com), Radio Johnson was launched with it. Radio Johnson was the perfect compliment to the site. At that time Radio Johnson was serving up some of the finest funk to be found anywhere, and Chef Johnson fans were able to groove out as they checked out the latest Chef Johnson resspeas and caught up on some of Curtis's latest musings 'bout the good chef's cookin'

Radio Johnson's early beginins wasn't so easy as you might well imagine. It got struck by the "I love you virus", because DJ FreeSoul thought that his good 'ol friend from high school who he hadn't heard from in years was sendin' him a nice message with a nicer email attachment. It didn't turn out so nice. But Radio Johnson still played on and after almost a year of continous funk Radio Johnson had to come down. DJ FreeSoul and his good wife DJ DuckieShmoo gave up their apartment in the West Village, where Radio Johnson was bein' broadcast from. Since surburbia's high speed bandwidth offerin's were slim to none at the time, Radio Johnson went on a prolonged hiatus.

Radio Johnson stayed down for over 5 years, only to arise like a phoenix from the ashes to get back down to business. And there is some serious business to get down to. In a flash of divine perspiration, DJ FreeSoul recognized that the world needs much mo' funk than it is gettin' right now. We all have found ourselves in a very unfunky situation, and that is when the dreaded rigormortis starts a settin' in. Rigormortis is bad news through and through and the only way to combat it is to get thoroughly funky all day long, and let the the effects of this funk thoroughly sink in at night, so it can work it's magic. The mo' funk that works it's way in, the less trouble there will be. Don't juss take my word for it. Give it a try fer yo'self and see what goes down.

PEACE, LOVE AND FUNKINESS TO ALL!!!

Enjoy the Show!
